dance day 6

So theoretically here's how I'm suppose to use my mask.

Putting them on:
-Wash your hands before putting on the mask
-Do not touch the mask (only the strap)
-Pinch the nose part to create a seal (I guess this is an exception to not touching the mask)
-Pull the bottom over your chin (I guess another do not touch your mask exception)

Taking them off:
- Take them off by the strap
- Never pull off your mask towards your neck (as your neck can be contaminated)
- You can wear your mask for up to 4 hours
- Never reuse a disposal mask.  Throw it away immediately in a closed trashcan and wash your hands immediately

Washing your mask:
- Machine wash your mask at 60 degrees celcius
- Do not wash with alcohol or bleach as this can damage the mask's capacity to filter
- If you can not disinfect the mask put it in an airtight container that you will afterwards disinfect with bleach

Here's what actually happened:

Because it was a sunny day I wanted to wear sunglasses.  At first I put the sunglasses over my mask thinking it would help with the "pinch the nose part to create a seal".  Unfortunately my sunglasses kept slipping down (I guess the nose part isn't designed to stay on cloth) so it ended up mask over sunglasses.  So much for creating a seal.

The mask kept slipping off  towards my, you guessed it, likely to be contaminiated neck.  So yeah to avoid this I touched the mask.  A bunch of times. It was either that or do that whole washing hands touching only the strap thing and when you are out and about and with kids it's really impractical.

You know what's also impractial?  Washing the mask after each usage because the only cycle that goes up to 60 degrees on my washing machine takes at least two hours.  For 1 mask? Maybe 2?  If we do disposable imagine how many masks will be thrown away if each person uses 2 masks a day.  So much for the environmental upside of COVID-19.

Also is it me or did the part about throwing the mask away in a closed trashcan and washing your hands immediately and putting used non-disinfected masks in an airtight container that needs to be cleaned with bleach sound like the mask is extremely likely to be contiminated/is extremely contaminated?  You know that mask next to the nose and mouth you use to breath.

So yeah I get the mask thing but it's annoying.  I doubt I'm the only one that thinks so given the amount of people I've seen out without one.
