So we took a walk as a family today. We headed out early, after breakfast, to
avoid the crowds making it easier to keep the recommended meter and a half away
from others. We walked passed my
daughter’s school, now deserted, crossed the street and past my son’s day care
center, also now deserted. We were going
to an open park my husband had found while jogging that was a bit further than
the park we usually frequented but still remained in the one kilometer perimeter
of our apartment allowed to us by the government when going outside.
It felt good to be out.
To feel the occasional breeze of lingering cold crisp night air against my
skin, a welcomed contrast to the hot rays of an uninhibited sun in the
cloudless blue sky. I could hear clearly
the sounds of birds chirping something now more noticeable due to the lack of people
and cars.
We lingered for a while in the new park allowing our kids to
explore. Before heading back we stopped
by the bakery to pick up a baguette and I let the kids pick out pastries for
their afternoon snack. Things almost
felt normal.
Then the hour allotted to us by the government for any outings
was up and we headed back indoors.
