So Villejésus is far (and haunted) so I narrowed my search houses one hour from Paris.  Nothing for 5K.  The cheapest when I searched for “house” started around 30K. There were definitely compromises to be made for say things like the definition of a house.

Like for example for 47K you could have part of a house:

The ad said it was this was for a very good handyman.  Indeed.

Then there was a shack in the woods for 48 990:

The ad started by asking if you love nature and that this 35m2 house with “wooded terrain” of 6415 m² was waiting for you!  

A horse (did I mistype horse for house? Um no) stable for 49 000.

The ad said it was to be visited asap because it’s rare.

Last but not least an old barn for 55 000

The ad said anything was possible with its impressive volume that will free your imagination to construct the house of your dreams. 

And how.

So after looking at the most expensive  I got to thinking, what’s the cheapest house I could buy in France and where is it?  Currently the answer is a 200m2 house in Villejésus for 5K.  The ad said it needed renovating and proceeded to show 27 pictures to show just how much renovating was required:

What’s surprising is that usually houses with a lot of renovation needed are shown empty.  This one looked like it was lived in and then something terrible happened that made everyone leave in a hurry. And then never came back. 

Yeah totally haunted.
