So mortality rate is down.  But why?

So there was a problem with metro line 13 the other day and the posted pictures on the internet created a "scandal" about people using the metro and covid.  Even ministers were starting to get involved.  

What I think is funny is that there's a minister somehwere in his office that probably walked to work or had a driver that thinks you can practice the "gestes barrières" on the metro during rush hour even if the metro is working well.

So I thought that after the government declared Paris on alert “maximale” and said to prioritize working from home my company would stop asking us to come into work.  To my surprise after the announcement I got an email entitled "Comment relever ensemble le défi de la reprise" (How to meet the challenge of recovery together).

In it it outlines why it's better for us to come into work.  Reasons include:

-Adapt our capacity for collective action in order to build the future

-Rediscover a framework favoring a professional / personal balance

-Socialization

-Efficiency

-Enable people to detect emotional problems in their colleagues more easily

So basically yes the government did say to prioritize working from home but for your own benefit and the benefit of others come in anyways.  How thoughtful of them.

One concrete thing they did do was close off the coffee area so we can no longer have coffee together. 

So much for the socialization argument.

-bars, gyms and swimming pools will all be closed for two weeks
-university lecture halls must be no more than half-full
-restaurants have to register contact details from customers and shut their doors at 22:00
-working from home must be prioritised "now more than ever"
