So my sister bought an RV so she could do trips during COVID-19.  It’s solid logic.  I myself was glad to be able to use my in-laws’ RV when France started to ease restrictions and you go places but you couldn’t sit down anywhere. It was like weird Speed where you had to be in constant movement.  Or as The Oak Ridge Boys would say “You don't have to go home but you can't stay here”.  In that kind of environment RVs are great.  

Sometimes, just for fun I look at apartments available in Paris for under 100K. On this particular day amidst the apartments that are 5 meters square or viagers, I saw one in the 12 arrondissement, 12 meters square with a terrace for 78,000 euros.

Turns it it’s a boat with a kitchen, toilet, shower and sleeps 6.  Basically an RV but a boat. I immediately saw myself as Géraldine Danon, my husband Philippe Poupon on our way to the Arctic, our kids swimming with dolphins.  

Nevermind the fact that we don’t know how to navigate a boat and our kids don’t know how to swim.  We could all learn, right? 

Right.

So I did take out from the sushi place next to where we live for the first time since the lockdown.  I made my order from behind my mask and the guy took it behind a wall of plastic and a table equipped with hand sanitizer placed next to the credit card machine.  I waited outside for my order and another customer politely called me in when my order was ready.  

It was nice not to have to cook.

So now that school has become complusory, my work has required we come into the office three days a week. 

Still no word from my son's day care or my daughter's school about it.  The last communication my daughter's school was about when we could come by and get all her stuff.

So the president announced the next phase of locxit with key dates:

June 15th:
-  Reopen its borders for travel from within the EU, UK and Schengen zones with no need for travel permits. 
-  All of France is considered a “green zone”.  

June 22nd:
  -Schools to fully open again become compulsory for children at nursery, primary school and secondary schools.

July 1st:
- Restrictions on travel from outside Europe will begin to be lifted.  Decisions will be made on a country by country basis. 

July 10th:
- State of Health Emergency in France expires

I didn’t see his speech.  Instead we went to the beach, something I had wanted to do since France re-opened.   When we finally arrived it was late, the tide had not receded enough to reveal the sandy beach we were hoping for and it started to rain.  We stuck it out though and our patience was rewarded with a magnificent sunset.  

I watched, feet in the soft sand as mini waves washed over them, my kids running around with delight.  I listened to the sound of the ocean and their laughter feeling happy and free.

So I think there's been some kind of deblockage of mail.  Last week I received a Vanity Fair, this week another one.  I have also been expecting a package from Japan sent May 7th.  Today we got it.
